After more than three years of experimental research, the Joint Laboratory for Scientific Research on White Kidney Bean Germplasm has made a major breakthrough in the selection and breeding of Yunnan white kidney bean seedlings and scientific cultivation. After more than three years of experimental research, the Joint Laboratory for Scientific Research on White Kidney Bean Germplasm has made a major breakthrough in the selection and breeding of Yunnan white kidney bean seedlings and scientific cultivation. (hereinafter referred to as "Yunnan Tianbao Huahua"), a leading enterprise in deep processing of white kidney bean science and technology in China, together with the Grain Crops Research Institute of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, was established in 2020. In three years, the laboratory collected more than 600 samples of kidney bean germplasm worldwide, and utilized hybridization, molecular breeding and other modern biotechnologies to develop more than ten new varieties of white kidney bean with international leading potential.
Among them, the innovative variety of brassica white bean No. 1 (YWL1) passed the field appraisal of Yunnan Provincial Seed Management Station in November 2022 and was recognized as a new variety. This variety has high quality characteristics such as high amylase inhibitor tetramer ratio, high activity and high yield. And it began to be planted in 8 experimental demonstration areas in Dali Prefecture, Chuxiong Prefecture and Kunming City of Yunnan Province 2 years ago. Among them, the organic growing areas in Dali Prefecture and Kunming City were certified as organic products in the 2022 growing season.
White kidney beans are rich in α-amylase inhibitory proteins, and the purified and separated white kidney bean extracts from white kidney beans through scientific and technological deep processing are widely used in the food and medical and health industries, and are very valuable scientific and technological achievements in the transformation of the application of market value. After research, it was found that the white kidney bean extract produced by the innovative white kidney bean variety has outstanding activity performance and has a number of unique advantageous characteristics. At present, the white kidney bean extract produced by this innovative variety has been specially supplied to Yunnan Tianbao Birch's strategic partner, WONDERLAB, a well-known domestic health and nutrition brand.
