Academician Chen Xiaodong of COFCO Nutrition and Health Research Institute and Yunnan Tianbao Huahua Bioresource Development Co., Ltd. joined hands to create the "Chen Xiaodong Academician Workstation", which was formally launched at the beginning of 2019. At the end of 2019, the first phase of the work was successfully completed, reaching the task objectives. The second phase of the work is now being carried out smoothly.

Academician Xiaodong Chen is a professor and dean of the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Soochow University, and a visiting professor at the University of Monash and the University of Auckland. he graduated from the Department of Engineering Mechanics of Tsinghua University in 1987, and received his PhD in Chemical Process Engineering from the University of Canterbury in 1991. MSc in Applied Mathematics, Defense College, University of New South Wales, 2016. He is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand Academy of Sciences; a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Engineering and Technology; a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemical Engineering; a Chartered Engineer; and a Senior Member of the American Chemical Society. His main research interests include biotechnology and food chemistry, bionic chemistry, functional particle technology, drying technology, application of chemical principles in agriculture, fouling and cleaning of industrial heat exchangers, spontaneous combustion phenomenon, cryogenic concentration technology, and mathematical analysis and simulation in the above fields.
The Academician Chen's workstation was created to jointly conduct research on the development of commercial applications and standardized production process technologies for white kidney bean α-amylase inhibitor proteins. Through the development of customized white kidney bean α-amylase inhibiting protein products and personalized dietary solutions, to address a series of health problems caused by carbohydrate metabolism in the human body. And through improving the technical content and added value of Yunnan Plateau characteristic white kidney bean products, promoting the industrialization development, strengthening the ability to resist market risks, accelerating and helping the adjustment of local industrial structure in Yunnan, and moving towards the direction of environmentally friendly and safe bio-technology agricultural industry.
Yunnan Tianbao Huahua Bio-resource Development Co., Ltd (TBHBio), established in 2008, is mainly engaged in the research and development, production, sales and commercial application development services of α-Amylase Inhibiting Protein (White Kidney Bean Extract), which is a functional food ingredient. The α-Amylase Inhibiting Protein (White Kidney Bean Extract), developed and produced by the company through its own process, can reduce the activity of salivary and intestinal amylase, reduce the human body's digestion and absorption of starch in food, and at the same time, reduce the decomposition of starch to sugar conversion. It reduces calorie intake while not affecting the absorption and metabolism of other nutrients. Currently, it has been widely used in the field of functional food.
